I also did work on the computers. I used programs such as Excel and Google docs. I cleaned up the classroom a little, by wiping down the computer screens. My thoughts on how my day went today were good. I like the kids they're smart, funny and respectful. I had a good day working with them and Steve. I like the work that the kids do because its not only helpful its interesting and that's what keeps the kids working hard. I like how when it's lunch time some kids come back up to finish some of their work. I had a good day today.

Ms Jamie also showed me how to image the computers and what to do when they are finished being imaged. Todays day went by pretty fast which probably means I had fun because when I'm having fun the day goes by pretty fast.

  • Today was another productive day. Today I worked with the 5th graders with there's apples and also starting up their first class accounts. We ran into some problems such as the students forgetting their passwords but we got everything done. The 5th graders also made me laugh. They are some really funny students also very smart. Today I also made a video with the camera to show what things where in the basement and where they where located.

While there were also some that needed my help after I explained it but they understood after me helping them hands-on. Today I used my first class account to install files to the laptops. On the black laptops I installed two files onto them which were flash player and Finance Center. On the white laptops I just installed flash player. I also just learned more about photoshop. I learned things like canvas and image size.

Another thing I got to do was work with the inside of the CPU of a computer. I learned that everything is connected to the motherboard and would not work unless it is. In addition to that I learned how to take out different pieces that are inside of the computer. We are thinking about starting up a little project where the 7th graders take apart computers and put them back together.

In Addition to that they got the chance to actually come back at 12:45 to introduce themselves and meet the others students through a program called skype. It was really cool and I enjoyed watching them and I think they enjoyed doing it. I did a little bit more work downstairs with the emacs and bringing them to the church to be imaged.

Some of the students were upset and acted out but I think Mr. Bergen handled it correctly. On the other hand we watched a video about "slow food," which was about kids eating other foods such as beans and none processed food instead of fast foods all of the time. The video was very helpful for both me and the students because I learned some things i didn't know as well as the kids. There is one fifth grade class but they are split into two sections so that there won't be to many students at once. The first section had a little bit of trouble trying to figure out Binary codes even after Steve explained it multiple time but eventually they got it. The second section really didn't have any trouble at all. As soon as Steve explained it to them once they understood quickly. I did some work outside the classroom which was taking some Pcs over in the church. In addition to that i did some organizing over in the church as well.

We took apart and put together a computer. We took out almost all of the components and put them all back with minor issues. It was really fun and I enjoyed it. They took out parts such as the hard drive, the RAM memory chips, the heat sink and even the cpu its self. They also learn what each component does and how it works. I myself also learned a thing or two due to this project. I learned that when the information is being sent its travels through unit calls buses and all of the external memory is stored on the ROM not the RAM. The RAM is just the temporary memory holder.

I had to make sure they were using the correct fingers on their typing pals. If not I would give them a warning and if I had to warn them a second time, then they would have to start all over even if they had 30 or 3 apples done. Later when the 5th grade class let, I did some more work on the computers fixing up the firefox installation. I had to update the firefox version from either 3.0 or 2.0 to 3.6.
