My Fahrenheit 451
Overview
This year in Independent Reading I'm reading the best book ever written, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. This book takes place in the near future where books or any type of writing is not allowed at all. The government there believes that books make people unhappy and depressed. The main character Guy Montag is a fire fighter whose only job is to burn books in this society. He does not like the fact that he has to burn them for his bosses' pleasure. If anybody is caught with a book he or she will be asked to leave his or her home; if a person is not cooperative he or she will burn along with the house.
Then Montag meets this girl he sees on the train and they start talking about why firefighters do what they do. She brings up a lot of good points like if kids go to school what's the point if they can't be taught to read. Then Montag believes that she is right and wants to rebel against the laws.
