Rules of the Contest (next one is Saturday 3/14/09)
- There will be one winner in each grade, from first grade to eighth grade
- If you are in grade 2 or grade 3 or grade 4, it is very good if you can remember the first 10 places that are in red above ... we won't know until March 14th how much you will need to win the contest
- If you are in grade 5 or grade 6 or grade 7 or grade 8 you may need to memorize about 15 or 20 places to win (perhaps red or orange)... we won't know until March 14th how much you will need to win the contest
- PI Day (this year March 14th falls on a Friday)
- To win the contest, you must remember more places of PI than anyone else in your grade (Mr. Bergen)
- I will bake you a PIE after March 14th if you win. You can choose blueberry or strawberry or apple or or vanilla or chocolate!
- Click here to listen to a song called Interval Circumference by an incredibly talented math and music high school student named David Kalinoski from Harrisburg PA who created the lyrics using Snoop Dogg's Sensual Seduction for his own class project prior to 3/14/08; click
here for the permission agreement.
Much thanks to Natalie Jenkins (David's cousin) who is a colleague of the parent of the girl in grade one who won the pie contest on 3/14/08.
- PI Day in 2009 falls on a Saturday, so we will have our contest on Thursday 3/12/09 and the winners will take home their pies on Friday 3/13/09 from school. Those students who won a pie on 3/14/08 can compete for the contest but cannot win the pie!
